Maintenance Technician (Second Shift)

Warby Parker is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our very own?and very first!?optical lab. In 2017, we opened the Warby Parker Lab in Sloatsburg, New York. Launching the lab has been a key step for us, as a vertically integrated brand, in continuing to provide a remarkable experience to all of our customers and driving sustainable growth across our supply chain. The primary focus of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production and facility support equipment. If that sounds up your alley, keep reading!
What you'll do
Essential duties:
Observe all company policies, rules, and safety practices
Provide support to lab personnel by completing basic machine-repair requests, handling and administering chemicals, and changing parts on designated equipment
Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment, as well as on the facilities and grounds
Troubleshoot basic electrical and mechanical problems with our equipment
Communicate equipment status to production personnel, coworkers, and management
Actively pursue and learn the technology and functionality of our production equipment and processes
Other duties:
Log and maintain equipment performance data
Assist in maintaining Material Safety Data sheets for chemicals used
Perform basic plumbing tasks, such as soldering or pipe fitting
Perform basic metal fabrication and welding
Use a wide variety of hand and power tools in performing machine, building, and grounds maintenance
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly lab safety checks to determine if anything does not meet requirements
Actively participate in lab-wide and department-specific meetings, as well as safety and employee committee meetings
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Who you are:
Equipped with a high school education or equivalent
Willing to work on our Second Shift (4pm - 1am)
Backed by 1 year of related experience and/or training for troubleshooting manufacturing equipment (both electronically and mechanically)
Knowledgeable about using electronic test equipment, such as multimeters and amp meters
Comfortable using Google and Microsoft Windows programs
Skilled at reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Able to multitask and prioritize your workload
Flexible and responsive
Able to overcome obstacles, with the organizational skills necessary to complete assignments in a timely manner
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job:
Frequently lifting and moving up to 15 lbs. above shoulder height, 30 lbs. to shoulder height, and 50 lbs. to waist height, unaccompanied
Regularly standing or walking for the duration of your shift
Frequent stoop, climbing (on ladders up to 20 feet high), kneeling?plus balancing on ladders, platforms, and sometimes-slippery surfaces
Coordinated use of your hands and fingers to grasp, feel objects, transfer small items from one hand to another
Fine manipulation and bilateral reach with your arms
Use of close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
